TRANSIENT CHARGED WITH ROBBERY AND THEFT

A transient was charged with robbery and theft on Wednesday morning.
Information from the Roseburg Police said 50-year old Jesse Canida allegedly stole items worth less than $10 from the Dollar General on Diamond Lake Boulevard at about 9:30 a.m.
The report said when the suspect got outside the store, the manager followed him and demanded that the items be returned. Canida reportedly pulled out a folding knife from his pocket, opened the blade, and held it by his side as he told the manager to back off. The suspect got away with the stolen items but was located nearby and arrested. The stolen merchandise was recovered as well.
Canida was held for a 2nd degree robbery count and a 3rd degree theft count. He was detained on $251,250 bail.
