GARDEN VALLEY ROAD PAVING PROJECTS

September 5, 2019 10:00 a.m.
The Douglas County Public Works Department has announced the start of another road construction project.
The Garden Valley Road Paving Project will begin this Sunday September 8th and is set to continue through October 4th.
A release from the department said the project will begin at the Roseburg city limits and will continue to Brown’s Bridge where it crosses the North Umpqua River, nearly 3 and a half miles to the west. The project will include grinding the existing pavement, installing new asphalt and restriping the road.
For the first 2 weeks, construction crews will be working night shifts Sunday through Thursday, from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Work will begin at the northwest end of Garden Valley Road, at Brown’s Bridge. Crews will proceed south, only closing sections of the southbound lane, as they progress towards the city limits. Once they reach that point, crews will turn around and head back towards Brown’s Bridge, only closing sections of the north bound lane. Traffic flow during construction hours will be controlled by flaggers and pilot cars.
The release said motorists are asked to slow down and proceed with caution while in and around the work zone. Expect 15 to 20-minute delays and seek alternate routes whenever possible.
