Officials with the City of Canyonville say Canyon Creek may be contaminated with untreated sewage.
A notice from City Administrator Janelle Evans said a sewer line break has caused the potential danger. Evans said the leak was discovered by a citizen and reported to staff at around 10:30 a.m. last Friday. She said it was temporarily repaired by staff about an hour later with all the appropriate agencies being contacted. It is unknown when the leak began.
Evans said the pipe is being replaced on Thursday
Citizens are advised not to swim, bath or fish in the creek until further notice. Pets should not be allowed in the creek either, according to Evans.
