CHIP SEAL PROGRAM CONTINUES OUTSIDE MYRTLE CREEK

September 3, 2019 3:35 a.m.
The annual chip seal program from the Douglas County Public Works Department is continuing on County roadways this week.
An update from the department said starting Tuesday crews are working outside Myrtle Creek on a 9 mile stretch of South Myrtle Road.
Work is performed Tuesdays through Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. depending on weather and materials availability. Traffic in the work areas will be controlled by flaggers.
The chip seal program is the application of a special protective wearing surface to an existing pavement. The surface treatment combines 1 or more layers of asphalt with 1 or more layers of fine aggregate.
The update said chip seal maintenance will impact drive times, so motorists should plan accordingly. Expect 20-minute delays and seek alternate routes whenever possible.
