1 person was hurt in a 6-vehicle wreck late Sunday afternoon on Interstate 5, about 5 miles north of Cottage Grove.
A release from the Oregon State Police said just before 5:00 p.m. troopers were advised of a crash in the northbound lanes of the freeway. Before they arrived, troopers were told that 2 commercial vehicles had been involved in a collision. 1 of the semi’s had rolled on its side and the driver was trapped. The driver was eventually extricated and taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield, for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The report said an investigation revealed that northbound traffic had come to a stop after an unrelated single vehicle crash. The driver of the commercial vehicle that rolled failed to properly respond to the stopped traffic and had collided with 4 vehicles and the other commercial vehicle, according to the report.
No one else was apparently injured in the accident. The northbound lanes were blocked for approximately 3 hours while the accident scene was cleaned up.
