The campus of the Roseburg VA Health Care System will go “smoke free” starting on October 1st.
A release from the VA said the change is meant to further the VA’s “commitment to provide a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors, vendors, volunteers, contractors and employees”. The move is in line with Veteran Health Administration policy outlined in a VHA directive.
The release said the policy will cover all smoking material including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, e-cigarettes, vape pens and e-cigars. Patrons of the facility are “strongly encouraged” to leave all smoking materials at home.
The Roseburg VA offers smoking cessation treatment services for veterans and employees. Go to www.mentalhealth.va.gov/quit-tobacco/how-to-quit.asp for more information.
