A Heat Advisory remains in effect for central Douglas County from 3:00 p.m. Tuesday through 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service said high temperatures will range from the upper 90s to around 102 Tuesday. Highs will be just a few degrees lower on Wednesday. Overnight lows into Wednesday morning will be in the mid-60s, which is much higher than normal.
Forecasters said hot weather with limited overnight relief will increase the chances for heat related illness, especially for sensitive groups and people without access to air conditioning. Heat stress is possible for livestock and outdoor pets.
Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for between 11:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday for the Umpqua Basin and the Umpqua National Forest. Abundant lightning on dry fuels could produce numerous new starts that pose a threat to life and property.
