Staff from the City of Roseburg Public Works Department will begin construction on Tuesday to slurry seal roughly 4.3 miles of residential streets in the City as part of this year’s annual pavement management project.
A slurry seal is a very thin layer of aggregate with an asphalt emulsifier applied to a paved surface. Slurry seals are used primarily as a preventative maintenance to prolong the life of the paved surface.
The process requires all street parked vehicles to be removed from impacted streets for one full day. Vehicular access will be restricted during the application and curing phase which lasts about 4 hours or more, depending on the weather. The impacted streets will receive door hangars 48 hours in advance of construction activities. All work is being performed by Pave Northwest Inc. for a contract price of just under $210,000 and is expected to be complete within 1 week.
Tuesdays work will take place on sections of Clover Avenue, Sunset Lane, Sunset Loop, Garrect Street and Bradford. For a complete look at which streets will be impacted between Tuesday and next Tuesday September 3rd go to www.cityofroseburg.org.
