The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for central Douglas County between 3:00 p.m. Tuesday and 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
High temperatures from the upper 90s to around 102 degrees are expected on Tuesday with the mercury dropping just a few degrees on Wednesday. Overnight lows into Wednesday morning will be in the lower 60s, which is much higher than normal.
The advisory includes Roseburg, Drain, Tri-City, Tiller and surrounding areas.
Forecasters said hot weather with limited relief overnight will increase the chances for heat related illnesses, especially for sensitive groups and people without access to air conditioning. Heat stress is possible for livestock and outdoor pets as well.
Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
