ROSEBURG GETS NEARLY A HALF INCH OF RAIN

August 22, 2019 4:15 a.m.
Rain in the Umpqua Valley is rare in August but the Roseburg Regional Airport picked up nearly a half inch of precipitation in the 24-hour period ending at 4:00 a.m. Thursday.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 1240 KQEN that the airport had .44 inches of rain. While it is significant during this normally hot dry period of the summer, its not a record amount for the date. The record is .97 inches of rain which happened in 1968. Forecasters told KQEN that amount was likely associated with thundershowers.
Roseburg is forecast to hit 80 degrees Thursday and then begin to heat up starting on Friday with highs in the upper 80’s to around 90 degrees through Monday. Highs are slated to be in the mid-90s Tuesday before approaching 100 degrees on Wednesday.
