MAN JAILED ON DRUG AND WEAPONS CHARGES

A Sutherlin man was jailed on drug and weapons charges on Wednesday night.
Police Chief Troy Mills of the Sutherlin Police Department said Wednesday night shortly after 8:00 pm. a passerby reported that 55-year old Gerald Haines was reportedly waving a gun inside his vehicle in the 700 block of Hastings.
Mills said that officers contacted the man and ultimately charged him with unlawful possession of heroin, methamphetamine and methadone, for possession of a restricted weapon, first degree theft, and for unlawful possession of schedule 3 and schedule 4 drugs. Mills said stolen items as well as drugs and drug paraphernalia were allegedly found. No gun was located.
Haines was initially jailed on over $270,000 bail.
