FIRE DANGER LEVEL LOWERED DUE TO RAIN

August 21, 2019 10:30 a.m.
A brief weather change has brought cooler, wet conditions to Douglas County, allowing fire officials with the Douglas Forest Protective Association to lower the fire danger to moderate on all DFPA protected lands.
Kyle Reed of DFPA said that despite the rain, fire season remain in effect and all backyard debris burning is prohibited.
DFPA’s Public Use Restrictions also remain in place to help prevent human caused wildfires. During moderate fire danger, the following activities are prohibited between 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.:
*The use of power saws for non-industrial purposes
*The cutting, grinding, or welding of metal for non-industrial purposes.
*The cutting, trimming or mowing of dead or dry grass. The mowing of green lawns and the culture or harvest of agricultural crops are both exempt from this requirement.
*The use of power-driven machinery not specifically mentioned in DFPA’s Public Use Restrictions that are used on private property for non-industrial improvements or developments.
Reed said all other fire prevention measures set under its Public Use Restrictions remains in effect and are unchanged. Additional restrictions or closures may be in place through private industrial landowners or public land management on the lands they own and manage.
