Online registration will close on August 30th but riders can still participate by signing up on the morning of the ride at Discovery Garden after 7:00 a.m. There is a $10 surcharge for sign-ups the day of the ride. Registration will also be available at the Great Umpqua Bash the day before in Stewart Park from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. without the surcharge.
The Vineyard Tour cycling event is held each September, sponsored by the Umpqua Velo Club. It offers 5 routes to appeal to riders of all ages and abilities. Routes are 15, 30, 50, 75 and 100 miles in length. Each uses lightly traveled rural roads that follow the Umpqua River. Cyclists will pass by many vineyards, wineries, forests, fields and orchards along the way. A barbecue meal will be provided after the rides.
All routes are fully marked, supported with stocked rest stops approximately every 15 to 20 miles. Support vehicles patrol the routes watching for riders with mechanical problems or those who may need a ride.
