The Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team nabbed a Sutherlin man on Thursday, for multiple drug related crimes, calling him a suspected high-level drug dealer.
Lieutenant Rick McArthur said detectives contacted 51-year old Eric Nelson in the 400 block of North Comstock Road. McArthur said a search of the man’s residence and vehicle allegedly revealed a large amount of suspected methamphetamine and heroin, as well as other drug related paraphernalia.
In total McArthur said detectives seized over 600 grams of methamphetamine which is 1.3 pounds, and approximately 100 grams of heroin, which is 3.5 ounces.
McArthur said all of this occurred in close proximity to Sutherlin’s West Intermediate School, located only a block away. He noted that there are additional charges in Oregon for delivering or manufacturing controlled substances that close to a school.
Nelson was charged with unlawful possession, delivery and delivery within 1,000 feet of a school for both meth and heroin. He was detained on $1 million bail.
