SOUTHBOUND RAMPS AT EXIT 124 NOW TEMPORARILY CLOSED

August 12, 2019 11:00 a.m.
The southbound Interstate 5 on- and off-ramps at exit 124 on West Harvard Avenue are now temporarily closed due to construction.
Officials from the Oregon Department of Transportation say the ramp closures are to allow the contractor, Knife River, to excavate and rebuild the ramps.
Harvard Avenue drivers wanting to travel south will be detoured using the northbound Interstate 5 entrance, drive 1 mile to exit 125, then turn around and go southbound from the 125 on-ramp.
Southbound Interstate 5 drivers wanting to get to Harvard Avenue will make a similar turnaround at exit 123 near the Douglas County Fairgrounds.
Bellows Street is also closed as part of the project. Bellows Street serves 25 houses near Roseburg High School. Residents will detour through the high school parking lot to reach Harvard Avenue while the closure is in place.
Some sidewalks will also be closed during construction, and detour routes will be posted.
The $1.9 million reconstruction project includes installing new traffic signals on both sides of the Harvard interchange, adding turn lanes, making safety and pedestrian improvements, and realigning the intersection of the southbound ramps and Bellows Street with Harvard Avenue.
The closure is expected to last about 2 weeks.
