A Roseburg duplex was damaged by a fire on Sunday.
Fire Chief Gary Garrisi of the Roseburg Fire Department said just after 4:15 p.m. personnel responded to the fire in the 400 block of Northeast Winchester. Upon arriving, crews found heavy smoke and fire from the backside of the structure. All residents had exited the building before firefighters arrived.

Firefighters made entry through the front door and additional lines were deployed to the back of the home. The fire was quickly extinguished and overhaul was completed. Garrisi said firefighters were able to protect the surrounding homes from damage. One family of 7 people was displaced and is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
The cause of the fire was determined to be discarded smoking material outside the home. Damage to the structure was estimated to be approximately $30,000.
