July 31, 2019 3:30 p.m.
The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Pollution Advisory which is in effect for a wide area of the region through 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Wildfires burning in the region combined with forecast conditions are causing air quality levels to fluctuate which could lead to unhealthy air quality at times.
The advisory area includes central and eastern Douglas County, Josephine and Jackson counties, parts of Klamath County, the Southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains and other nearby locations.
The DEQ statement said pollutants in smoke can cause burning eyes, runny nose, can aggravate heart and lung diseases, and can aggravate other serious health problems. Residents should limit outdoor activities when air is unhealthy. Children should be kept indoors if it is smoky.
