Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association and other departments handled 2 fires on Saturday.
Kyle Reed of DFPA said at approximately 12:30 p.m. their firefighters along with personnel from North Douglas County Fire and EMS responded to a reported vehicle on fire about 1-mile northeast of Drain, near Krewson Creek. The fire spread from the burning vehicle and into the surrounding vegetation. The Krewson Creek Fire burned about 1/100th of an acre.
At approximately 2:00 p.m. DFPA and Sutherlin Fire Department responded to a natural cover fire 4 miles west of Sutherlin, near Crouch Road. Crews located the fire in a grass field, burning at a moderate rate of speed. Reed said firefighters stopped the Crouch Road Fire at 1.5 acres of grass. The fire threatened one structure and damaged a wooden fence. Reed said the cause of the fire was power line related.
