LEVEL 1 EVACUATION NOTICE FOR FIVE MILE STRETCH WEST OF FREEWAY


July 26, 2019 10:00 p.m. 
In conjunction with Milepost 97 Fire managers, a Level 1 “Be Ready” evacuation notice has been issued for all residences in a 5-mile area west of Interstate Five between mileposts 88 and 83, south of Canyonville.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office told News Radio 1240 KQEN that said “it’s a large area encompassing a lot of homes”. It includes:
*Barton Road
*Azalea-Glen Road
*Old Booth Lane
*Harrel Lane
*Hobbs Lane
*Fortune Branch Road on the Azalea-Glen side
*Forrest Road
*Realty Road
*Quines Creek Road
*Mobley Drive
O’Dell said in addition, the Level 1 notice is being issued for all residences off of Upper Cow Creek Road starting at Interstate Five milepost 88, east to the base of the Galesville Dam.
Level 1 “Be Ready” means:
*Be ready for the potential to evacuate
*Have a “go kit” ready
*Have an evacuation plan for family and pets
*Be Firewise and create a defensible space around homes
The Milepost 97 Fire was first reported Wednesday night at approximately 10:00 p.m. It began approximately 1 mile from Canyonville and has been burning mainly to the south and west. The fire is burning in steep rocky terrain with limited access. It is burning in an old fire scar that originally burned in 1987.
