NeighborWorks Umpqua has a Community Measurement Survey underway in select neighborhoods in Roseburg this summer.
A release from NeighborWorks said their organization, the City of Roseburg, and other community organizations use the survey tool as a means of informing local decision-makers about the needs and conditions of the community and “sheds some light on the impact and value of various community development activities” that have happened since the first survey was taken in 2013. The team will be in teal blue shirts to make them easy to spot.
Resident Coordinator Ruth Smith said the staff is “excited to capture any changes the neighborhood might have seen since 2016”. She said its important for NeighborWorks to document the information in order to provide important data to funders about the needs of the local area.
Smith told News Radio 1240 KQEN that the survey began recently in southeast Roseburg and will be continuing for the next few weeks. AmeriCorps VISTAs are assisting in the survey effort.

Ruth Smith and Tasha Oliverson were on the Morning Conversation Thursday on News Radio 1240 KQEN to talk about the survey. That interview is a KQEN podcast at www.541radio.com
