All areas of the Umpqua National Forest have moved to Industrial Fire Precaution Level II with a rating of moderate fire danger.
Mark Turney with the Forest Service said the new designation means that blasting, welding, cable yarding, or the use of power saws except at loading sites, is prohibited from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Turney said the restrictions apply to all contractors and permit holders working on the Umpqua National Forest, including those with permits to cut personal-use firewood.
Turney said while the industrial fire precaution level does not apply to recreation users, visitors are encouraged to be cautious with fire while outdoors. All campers should remember to completely extinguish campfires before leaving.
