What authorities are calling “a huge amount of meth and heroin” was seized when a search warrant was served on a home in the 300 block of Southeast Pine Street near downtown Roseburg on Monday.
Lieutenant Rick McArthur of the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team said the search revealed approximately 1141 grams of methamphetamine and 639 grams of heroin. That is 2.5 pounds and 1.5 pounds respectively. McArthur told News Radio 1240 KQEN that an “average” meth user, uses 1 gram of meth per day – meaning 1141 grams would be 1141 “days” of meth use. Average use of heroin is 1/10th of a gram according to McArthur. So, with 639 grams seized, that would be 6,390 doses of heroin.
McArthur said this level of drugs is usually only possessed by a “very high-level drug dealer”.
McArthur said 30 grams of cocaine and 7 grams of psilocybin mushrooms were also found at the residence. In addition to the drugs, detectives reportedly found firearms, cash, and other evidence of drug related crimes.
47-year old Galen Trigg of Portland is suspected of being a high-level dealer, according to McArthur. He was at the home when the search warrant was served. The man had a warrant for his arrest from the United States Marshal’s Service. He was jailed for the warrant and also for charges that included unlawful delivery and possession of meth, heroin and cocaine and for 2 counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Trigg was detained on $1million bail.
40-year old Matthew Shields of Roseburg was also at the home. He was allegedly found to be in possession of user quantities of methamphetamine and heroin. He was cited and released for unlawful possession of both drugs.
