CHIP SEAL PROGRAM BEGINS MONDAY

July 24, 2019 10:30 a.m.
Crews with the Douglas County Public Works Department will begin work on its annual chip seal program on County roadways starting on Monday and continuing through mid-September.
Work will be performed Mondays through Thursdays from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. depending on the weather and availability of materials. Traffic in work areas will be controlled by flaggers.
A release from County Public Works said the chip seal program is the application of a special protective wearing surface to an existing pavement. That treatment combines one or more layers of asphalt with one or more layers of fine aggregate.
The tentative schedule includes:
*A 12-mile section of Nonpareil Road in the Sutherlin area from July 29th through August 1st.
*A 9-mile section of Melrose Road and a 5-mile section of Elgarose Road from August 5th through August 9th.
*A 4.5-mile section of Colonial Road and an 8-mile section of Buckhorn Road from August 12th through August 16th.
*A 9-mile section of South Myrtle Road near Myrtle Creek between August 19th and August 23rd.
*A nearly 10-mile section of Azalea Glen Road in the Glendale area between August 26th and August 30th.
*Various streets in the City of Glendale between September 3rd and September 13th.
