2 NEW COUNTY ROAD PROJECTS ARE UNDERWAY

July 16, 2019 10:10 a.m.
The Douglas County Public Works Department has begun 2 summer road construction projects.
The A.R.T.S. safety improvement project will entail the construction of new curve warning signs and other signs on routes that have a severe crash history. A.R.T.S. stands for All Roads Transportation Safety and is a program funded by the Oregon Department of Transportation. Signs will be installed on North Bank Road in the Wilbur and Glide areas, on Garden Valley Road west of Roseburg, on Glenbrook Loop Road near Riddle and on the Tiller Trail Highway in the Days Creek and Tiller areas. The project began July 10th and should last for about 2 weeks.
The Frozen Creek Culvert Replacement Project is on North Myrtle Road where it crosses Frozen Creek, approximately 8 miles northeast of Myrtle Creek. The project consists of replacing an existing culvert that takes the creek under North Myrtle Road with a wider precast concrete arch, and restoring fish passage through engineered channel restoration. Work began July 9th and is expected to continue through the end of September.
For both projects, motorists are asked to watch for intermittent lane closures and expect brief delays in the project area. Flaggers will provide traffic control as needed in the active work areas.
The release from Public Works said motorists should seek alternate routes whenever possible.
