A Glendale man was taken to jail after trying to elude authorities late Sunday night.
A report from Oregon State Police said at about 11:00 p.m. a trooper pulled over a northbound vehicle for reckless driving and for failure to maintain a lane, at the fairgrounds exit, about a mile south of Roseburg. The report said as the trooper approached the vehicle, it took off and headed south on the freeway.
The chase spanned 11 miles on the freeway. Then the vehicle got off the freeway south of the Clarks Branch exit and headed towards Roseburg Forest Products in Dillard. The vehicle was spike stripped near the intersection with Dole Road and continued to the RFP mill site. The report said then the vehicle left the roadway and driver took off on foot. He was taken into custody and transported.
42-year old Johnny Boomgaarn was charged with attempting to elude police, reckless driving, driving while suspended and for a parole violation.
He was detained without bail.
