The Roseburg City Council will hold an Executive Session on Wednesday night.
The agenda said the meeting is being held to discuss the city manager hiring process. The council had been expected to hold the session last week but Council President Tom Ryan and Councilor Bob Cotterell were not able to attend.
Public Works Director Nikki Messenger has been city manager pro-tem since Lance Colley retired at the end of April. Paul Eckert, the final candidate in the process to become city manager, withdrew his name from consideration on May 1st. He remains the city administrator in Gridley, California.
After Eckert withdrew, Mayor Larry Rich said the council should wait a couple of months before deciding how to proceed next.
The Executive Session will begin at 6:00 p.m. but is not open to the public.
