The YMCA of Douglas County is holding an Open House Pool Party for its new Aquatic Center on Saturday.
YMCA CEO and Executive Director Marisa Fink told News Radio 1240 KQEN that the event is free to the entire community. Fink said the new pool slide will be open. All adults must present a photo ID and must accompany any children under age 10 into the pools. Youth age 10 and older may use the pool without an adult, but a parent or guardian must remain on-site.
Fink said tours of the YMCA will also be available for people who want to see the facility, which was renovated in a recently completed $3.9 million project. Renovations include a new teaching and recreational pool, two hydrotherapy pools, a sauna, and much more. A water slide housed in a tree-house was custom designed and built by Tom Pappas of Victory Builders. Other work has included all new locker rooms, a new electrical system, fire sprinkler system, and a new HVAC system for the original YMCA building which opened in 1961.
Fink said the $50 joining fee will be waived for the rest of the month for everyone that joins the YMCA.
The Open House Pool Party will run from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
