SEMI-TRUCK LEAVES FREEWAY, CRASHES INTO AN EMBANKMENT

One person was hurt when a semi-truck left Interstate Five and wrecked Thursday afternoon.
A report from Oregon State Police said at about 12:15 p.m. the vehicle was southbound when it left the shoulder, traveled down the center grass median and then crashed into a rock embankment in the area of Roberts Mountain near milepost 114. It finally stopped on a private access road at an underpass location next to the freeway.
The report said the driver, a 71-year old man, had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Mercy Medical Center where he is in fair condition at last check. The driver may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash, according to the report.
An investigation into the wreck is ongoing according to Oregon State Police.
