PACIFIC POWER OPEN HOUSE WEDNESDAY NIGHT

July 10, 2019 3:40 a.m.
As part of an effort to prepare customers and communities for this year’s wildfire season, Pacific Power is holding a series of open houses this week and officials will be in Roseburg Wednesday night.
A release from the utility said that representatives from local emergency services agencies, the Oregon Department of Forestry, and Pacific Power will share details about their wildfire mitigation plans and provide information to help area residents to prepare at home.
Scott Bolton, senior vice president of Pacific Power, said with wildfires becoming more frequent and intense in the region, everyone needs to take extra steps to ensure the safety of their homes and community. Bolton said the utility is “working together with our community partners to ensure that together we are ready and we are prepared”.
During the open house, customers can talk with experts from local agencies and Pacific Power, to ask questions and to learn practical steps they can take at home to prepare. That includes managing vegetation and putting together an emergency plan. The release said information will also be available about Pacific Power’s Public Safety Shutoff plans, which could be used this year during times of extreme wildfire danger.
Wednesday’s open house will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Cascade Hall at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.
