ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIFE OF MYRTLE CREEK TEEN

A Myrtle Creek teen died and 4 people were taken to hospitals following a fiery two-vehicle crash Monday night in Dillard.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said just after 11:00 p.m. dispatchers received a report of a wreck in the 12,000 block of Old Highway 99 South, with one vehicle on fire. O’Dell said when deputies arrived, they learned that a 2004 BMW operated by 19-year old Owen Sinsaeng of Myrtle Creek, had collided with a 2002 Honda driven by 28-year old Briana Yates of Winston.
The BMW caught fire and one passenger 18-year old Blake Smith died at the scene.
Yates, Sinsaeng, and his two additional passengers, 20-year old Andrew Armenta of Riddle and 19-year old Edward Tellez of Myrtle Creek were taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center for treatment. Tellez was later transferred to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland for additional care. At last check he is in the facility’s burn unit and is in serious condition. The 3 people treated at Mercy Medical Center have since been released.
O’Dell said the crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call DCSO.
