GREAT UMPQUA FOOD TRUCK COMPETITION THURSDAY

For the July 4th holiday, a popular event is celebrating its third year.
The Great Umpqua Food Truck Competition is happening at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.
The event is produced by the Umpqua Economic Development Partnership, with support from the Douglas County Commissioners, City of Roseburg, Douglas County Fairgrounds, Douglas County Industrial Development Board, and the Roseburg Hometown Fireworks Committee.
Food trucks from the Umpqua Valley and from throughout a wide area of Oregon and beyond will offer everything from vegan sushi to Mexican-Hawaiian fusion, to South American Street Food and more.
VIP entry at 2:00 p.m. is sold out but the event is open to the public for free beginning at 3:00 p.m. Along with having food on sale, 3 teams of judges will evaluate the food truck faire. The finals of the competition will take place on the Garden Stage at 4:30 p.m. The winner will receive $10,000 while 2nd and 3rd place entrants get $5,000 and $2,500 respectively.
The Battle of the Bands will take place starting at 6:00 p.m. 6 local groups will each perform a 20-minute set. The winner will play an encore and receive a cash prize. The groups playing include: Freaks Unleashed, We’re Not Elvis, Full Circle, Widespread Haze, Graduating Class and the Original Doozies.
At 10:00 p.m. the Roseburg Hometown Fourth of July Fireworks show will take place. The music heard at the fairgrounds will be simulcast on News Radio 1240 KQEN.
Kids activities and daytime entertainment will be offered as well. There will also be a car show near the entrance to the fairgrounds.
