EUGENE MAN JAILED AFTER ELUDING ROSEBURG POLICE IN VEHICLE

A Eugene man was jailed after eluding Roseburg Police in an allegedly stolen vehicle on Wednesday morning.

An RPD report said at 8:40 a.m. a car dealership in Lynwood, Washington called and said they were tracking their stolen sedan to the area of the 1500 block of Northeast Stephens Street in Roseburg. Officers located the vehicle and as soon as the male driver saw officers, he sped off. A pursuit ensued on Northeast Stephens to the intersection of Northwest Edenbower Boulevard where officers ultimately terminated it for safety reasons. The driver, 36-year-old Lee Johnson, was later located and arrested by the Winston Police Department.

The car was recovered and removed from the stolen vehicle registry. Johnson was charged with attempting to elude police in a vehicle, unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless driving, and multiple warrants. Johnson was detained on $35,000 bail.
