April 28, 2025 10:20 a.m.

Sutherlin Police charged a woman with second-degree disorderly conduct following an incident on Saturday.

An SPD report said just after 10:35 a.m. a neighbor called dispatch to report that the 54-year-old was sitting in her vehicle, very impaired on drugs or alcohol in the 1200 block of West Dean Street. The woman was reportedly holding something in her hand while lighting it on fire.

When an officer arrived, he observed the suspect sitting in the driver’s seat while smoking marijuana. The woman confessed to lighting a bobble head on fire. Many neighbors were outside and told the officer that they were all alarmed and afraid that the woman could catch the nearby trailer on fire.

She was taken into custody and detained on $2,500 bail.
