COUNTY COVID-19 CASES DROP BY AROUND 12 PERCENT

The number of COVID-19 cases have dropped by around 12 percent in the past week.

Information from the Douglas Public Health Network said 130 cases were reported in the seven days ending on Wednesday. That compares with 142 cases in the previous week.

DFPH Public Information Officer Vanessa Becker said the number of people hospitalized related to the virus in the last week has ranged between 6 and 12. Becker said case numbers are continuing to drop as are the number of hospitalizations.

There were 2 COVID-19 related deaths in the last seven days. Since the start of the pandemic in January of 2020, 426 local residents have died related to COVID-19. 23,725 cases of the virus have been reported during that time.
