Crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association and North Douglas County Fire and EMS suppressed a natural cover fire on Friday night.

Kyle Reed of DFPA said the fire was located approximately two miles northwest of Drain, near Hardscrabble Road. Reed said firefighters arrived on the scene around 6:40 p.m. and said the fire was approximately one and half acres and was slowing backing down the hillside.

The Hardscrabble Road Fire went onto burn approximately three acres of grass, brush and Scotch Broom before crews contained the blaze. Firefighters remained on the scene until 9:30 p.m. securing the perimeter of the fire.

No homes were threatened by the Hardscrabble Road Fire. The cause is currently under investigation. Reed said firefighters were assisted on the scene by landowner representatives.
