A transient was jailed on multiple charges following a police chase early Wednesday.

Captain Kurt Sorenson of the Sutherlin Police said at about 1:45 a.m. an officer attempted to stop a sedan on Robinson Street because he believed the driver was uninsured.

40-year Michael Davis allegedly fled west on Central Avenue in the vehicle, and then went north on Interstate Five, eventually blowing up the motor on his vehicle before stopping at the Cabin Creek Rest Area. Davis attempted to elude on foot but was caught and taken into custody by multiple deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Charges included unlawful possession of methamphetamine, attempting to elude police in a vehicle and on foot, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person, and for a parole violation. Davis was detained without bail.
