Over 61 percent of registered voters have cast a ballot in the November General Election, in Douglas County.

Douglas County Clerk Daniel Loomis told News Radio 1240 KQEN that 51,649 ballots have been received as of Thursday night. Loomis said that is nearly 16 percent ahead of the participation rate at the same point in the 2016 general election and over 13 percent ahead of the participation rate at the same point in the 2012 general election.

Loomis said of the ballots received, close to 37 percent have arrived via the U.S. Postal Service and over 22 percent have come directly to the courthouse. The remainder have come from other drop sites.

Ballots are due back to the courthouse by 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday November 3rd. Postmarks do not count. Ballots can be taken to one of the 13 drop sites around the county. A list of those sites is posted with this story at www.541radio.com: https://www.co.douglas.or.us/clerk/drop_site_locations.asp
