Staff from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is holding a series of public comment sessions regarding the proposed Jordan Cove Energy Project.
A release from FERC said they will be receiving comments on the draft Environmental Impact Statement. The sessions will be held:
*June 24th at Southwest Oregon Community College in Coos Bay
*June 25th at South Umpqua High School in Tri-City
*June 26th at the Ramada Medford Hotel and Conference Center in Medford
*June 27th at the Klamath County Fairgrounds and Event Center in Klamath Falls
The FERC release said the public’s review of a draft environmental impact statement is an important part of the Commission’s environmental review process. The draft EIS was issued on March 29th. Due to significant public interest for the project, and in anticipation of a large turnout, FERC staff has chosen to allot more time for the sessions than is typical. All public comment sessions will run from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. There will be no formal presentation by Commission staff but they will be available to answer general questions about FERC and the environmental review process.
All public comments received will become part of the public record for these proceedings. Comments can be filed electronically by following a link at www.ferc.gov.
