Two programs in Douglas County government are in need in volunteers.
A release from the Board of Commissioners said both Douglas County Senior Services and the Douglas County Museum are seeking volunteers to help with various programs.
Senior Services is looking for people to help with the Meals on Wheels program. Residents can volunteer to deliver meals to homebound seniors one or two days a week. A mileage reimbursement is offered. Drivers are especially needed in Yoncalla, Sutherlin and Winston. Help is also needed at dining sites for two to three hours a day. Those serving can volunteer to help one, two or three days a week. Yoncalla and Reedsport are especially in need of volunteers.
The museum needs people to help with fun, educational programming, special community events, archival projects and more. The museum is celebrating 50 years in 2019 and boasts Oregon’s largest natural history collection on display, at over 7,500 items. Days and times to volunteer are flexible. Volunteers are especially needed for the 50th anniversary celebration on Saturday July 20th.
