Remains of a woman who lived in Roseburg and near Portland, and had been missing for over 4 years, have been found in Fairview.
A release from Crime Stoppers of Oregon said the organization and the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s help with the investigation.
In March of 2015, Tiffany Bettis, also known as Melinda Smith, was reported missing. At the time, she maintained a home in Fairview, and also lived in Roseburg. She was reportedly last seen at the Quality Inn in Gresham, around March 2nd, 2015.
On May 20th of this year, human skeletal remains were located in the area of 223rd Avenue and Marine Drive in Fairview. The Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the remains were those of Bettis. The cause and manner of her death remain under investigation.
According to investigators, Bettis left behind 3 children and a large family. The release said multiple people have reported that they do not believe the woman would have left her children behind willingly. Foul play has not been ruled out in the case.
