A tractor working in a hay field 4 miles east of Yoncalla sparked a wildfire that burned 4 acres of cut and raked hay Tuesday afternoon.
Kyle Reed of the Douglas Forest Protective Association said the fire was reported at around 4:40 p.m. Crews from DFPA and North Douglas Fire and EMS located the fire near the 1,000 block of Scotts Valley Road. Reed said a combination of hot temperatures and low relative humidity caused the fire to spread quickly. Once firefighters stopped the forward spread of the fire, crews focused their efforts on mopping up hot spots.
They remained on the scene until about 6:00 p.m.
