Ready Together, a community celebration and preparedness fair, will take place on Saturday in Roseburg.
The event is being held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on West Bertha, just off of Harvard.
Organizers say Ready Together is designed to honor Douglas County’s resilience during the big winter storm. It’s also being held to help the community learn how to prepare for unexpected emergencies. Experts will be on hand with tips, ideas, and demonstrations covering a wide array of topics including water storage and filtration, generator use and connections, fuel storage, growing and storing food and more. Close to 20 organizations are participating.
Ready Together will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Then a community awards event will be held to honor staff from Pacific Power and Douglas Electric Cooperative who worked to restore power after the winter storm.
Sam Carter from Pacific Power and Maria Duncan from the LDS Church were on Inside Douglas County on Thursday on News Radio 1240 KQEN talking about how the community got through the storm, and about the Saturday event. That interview is a KQEN podcast at www.541radio.com.
