In the KQEN Cultural Spotlight:
Five new exhibits open Friday at the Umpqua Valley Arts Center in Roseburg.
Featured in the Hallie Brown Ford Gallery is the 9th annual Artworks Northwest exhibit. Juror Daniell Knapp from the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at the University of Oregon, selected the 56 works from over 900 submissions. Artists from several state’s applied, making the display one of the most-wide ranging and exciting exhibits in the state of Oregon, according to the UVAA release.
The Corridor Gallery will feature a group exhibit juried by the UVAA’s Gallery Committee. The works of several Oregon artists will be on display.
The Red Door Gallery will feature a group exhibit titled, “Celebrating Abstractions”. 5 artists come together to represent their unique versions of abstract painting and sculpture.
Gallery II features paintings by Elizabeth McGee and Shannon Sullivan in a 2 person show titled “Unfamiliar Ground”.
The Student Gallery will feature “It’s Not You It’s Me” with the works of artists that are also students at Umpqua Community College.
The exhibit will run through June 30th. The opening reception is Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Regular gallery hours are Tuesdays-Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
