Uber can now operate in the City of Roseburg and it appears Lyft will be able to soon.
A release from the City said the ordinance recently adopted by the City Council that allows transportation network companies like Uber and Lyft to do business in Roseburg went into effect on Wednesday.
An Operator’s License Application from Uber has been approved and a representative from Lyft is in the process of completing their application. Sunshine Taxi Company had already been approved to operate as a TNC using a new app they designed that allows riders to contact drivers.
The release said in order for any TNC to legally provide vehicle for hire services in the City of Roseburg, the company must first be approved for a City Vehicle for Hire Operator License. Once that is approved, each individual driver must sign up with the TNC for whom they will drive, and apply and be approved for a separate Vehicle for Hire Driver Permit.
Applications for both are available at the City Recorder’s Office at City Hall or by going online to www.cityofroseburg.org
