621 customers remain without power in the Douglas Electric service area.
A Thursday evening update from Todd Munsey said power restoration efforts are now slow-going as officials had anticipated. Munsey said while crews continue to address the remaining outages with the same force as when they began 19 days ago, the effort is now literally going house to house. Munsey reminded residents that Douglas serves an average of 6 consumers for every mile of powerline.
Equipment, power poles and other materials continue to come from all over, according to Munsey. He said that Warehouseman Rob Hill has been extremely resourceful in locating and securing supplies. At no time has the utility run out of poles or equipment.
Munsey said the amount of time to complete full power restoration is unprecedented. So is the amount of damage caused by the worst storm in the 81-year history of Douglas Electric. Munsey thanked members for being overwhelmingly positive and understanding of the situation.
Close to 200 customers had their power restored on Thursday.
