The Roseburg City Council will tackle what appears to be a busy agenda at its meeting Monday night.
Auditor Jeff Cooley will present an overview of the annual financial audit for the past fiscal year.
The council will have second reading and final adoption of two ordinances that make changes to vehicle for hire service rules and change some of the rules regarding background checks for those doing business in the City. The changes are meant to make it more conducive for Uber and Lyft to operate in Roseburg.
The agenda also includes action on a staff recommendation that the City terminate the current personal services agreement with the Roseburg Area Chamber of Commerce. The chamber has provided visitor services for many years, including promoting tourism for the area. However, information provided to the council by staff said the current contract does not have language that requires an independent analysis of the performance of that contract. The notes to council said the current contract requirements are outdated and the evaluation system does not insure that visitor services are in-line with current practices. Staff wants to put together a new visitor center scope and proposed contract and then advertise through a request for proposals process to identify the most appropriate provider for those services, according to notes provided to the council.
Other items are on the agenda as well.
The council had planned to the evening at 6:30 p.m.by interviewing two candidates for a position on the Planning Commission but those interviews have been moved to the February 25th meeting. Councilors will start at 7:00 p.m. in the council chambers.
