Free Fishing Weekend is coming up this weekend in Oregon.
Presented by the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife, Saturday and Sunday no fishing licenses or tags are required to fish, crab, or clam anywhere in the state for both residents and non-residents. A release from ODFW said although no licenses or tags are required, all other fishing regulations apply, including closures, bag limits and size restrictions.
The release said this time of year the best opportunity for winter steelhead is on the coast, while stocked hatchery rainbow trout can best be found in the Willamette Valley and mid-coast lakes, and ice-fishing is best done in northeast and southeast Oregon.
