Two residents of Merlin were jailed on stolen vehicle and other charges by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday night.
A DCSO report said at about 10:00 p.m. a deputy saw a vehicle in the 7 Feathers parking lot that was found to be stolen. He stopped the vehicle on the sound bound on ramp of the freeway in Canyonville. The report said both occupants were detained and claimed they had bought the vehicle, but did not have any proof. They would not allow the deputy to look for information on the vehicle, according to the report.
Both people eventually provided their real name while on the way to jail. They are 26-year old Holly Hopkins and 33-year old Michael McDonald. Hopkins was initially detained on over $132,000 bail while McDonald was detained on over $100,000 bail.
