Tuesday will be Gary Leif’s final day as a Douglas County Commissioner.
Wednesday he will be sworn in to the Oregon House during a ceremony in Salem. He’ll be taking the seat that Dallas Heard occupied before he moved to the Senate. Leif was recently appointed to fill the House seat for the rest of the year. He is a candidate for a full term in that role, in the upcoming election.
Douglas County Commissioner Tim Freeman says he and Chris Boice will determine the procedure for appointing an interim county commissioner at the board’s work session next Monday morning. Freeman says there are no plans to use county time or funds to mark Leif’s departure from the board.
