Three members of the U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure are coming to Coos Bay on Friday to talk about the Water Resources Development Act.
A release from Congressman Peter DeFazio, Ranking Member on the committee, says a roundtable discussion will be held at the Coos History Museum and Maritime Collection.
DeFazio will be joined by the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment Garrett Graves, a Republican from Louisiana, and Subcommittee member Jared Huffman, a California Democrat, for a discussion titled “America’s Water Resources Infrastructure: Concepts for the Next Water Resources Development Act (Part 3)”. The release says witnesses testifying will include representatives from the Ports of Coos Bay, Grays Harbor, and Port Orford as well as local stakeholders.
The release says the roundtable will also focus on the need for congressional action to ensure that funds collected into the Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund are used for their intended purposes – the operation and maintenance needs of the nation’s ports and harbors.
The roundtable will be live-streamed on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure’s Facebook page. The event will begin Friday at 10:30 a.m.
